Puerta Abierta was founded on the principle that its doors are always open to students, regardless of income level. Its goal is to provide children with a valuable play-based educational experience inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education and this wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our donors.
Our families, alumni, and friends in our community support our mission to provide a Spanish immersion preschool setting that embraces cultural and racial diversity and acceptance by supporting our school financially and giving their time and talents.

The Maria Weisgal Scholarship Fund
The Maria Weisgal Fund is a scholarship fund in honor of our former Director and founder of Puerta Abierta that supports her principle that its doors are always open to students, regardless of income level. Maria Weisgal never turned down a family because of their financial status. Her goal has always been to allow children the opportunity to a high-quality education and providing a Spanish immersion preschool setting that embraces cultural and racial diversity and acceptance.
Teacher Appreciation
Our teachers are a fundamental key in our school, and they always go above and beyond for our students. This fund allows families to donate to one central fund, and your generous gift is then distributed as bonuses once to twice a year. Contributions to our Teacher Appreciation fund demonstrates how much we value and care for teachers in our school community by recognizing them in an equitable manner.
